Ministering to and loving the ladies who walk Broadway in Camden, NJ. Women who are in bondage to drugs and eventual prostitution.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP
-Pray for ladies who have found themselves on the streets of Camden.
-Prayerfully consider whether the Lord is leading you to join one of our
SHAN ministry teams right on the ground:
*At our weekly Saturday Outreach Breakfasts
*On the Ministry Bus in the evenings
-Collect clothing, toiletries, feminine products and other items at your church, school, office or in your neighborhood. CURRENT NEEDS: We are in desperate need of the following items currently: small underwear size 5/6, boy cut, hipster or regular bikini style only. Small bras, 32a, 34a, small and medium boy cut tank tops and modest small size shorts. We have almost completely depleted our supply of flip flops and personal wipes,(non-antibacterial).
-Prepare sandwiches and other snacks once a month to be served by the SHAN street teams.
-Administration—assist with organization and case management
-Communication—newsletter articles, email and telephone communication with the SHAN teams & others
Financially support SHAN by making a donation on our SOHM website or send your check to our main address
As young girls, the ladies who now wander Broadway in Camden didn’t dream about becoming addicted to drugs and turning to prostitution to support their habits. Like us, their hopes and dreams were about growing up, finishing their education, getting married and living happily ever after.
Life doesn’t always turn out as we plan and hope for. Through life’s circumstances and often by our own poor choices, we sometimes end up on a path that seems more like a nightmare than a dream.
Each of the women we see “has a name”. They are someone’s daughter, someone’s sister or someone’s friend and in most cases, someone’s mother. We share practical care and the unconditional love of Jesus Christ with the women who walk the streets of inner city Camden. We develop real, trusting relationships with them as we introduce them to the only One who can heal them, love them perfectly & change their lives. Ultimately, our goal is to see these women leave the streets of Camden, enter detox & long term faith-based rehab. We pray that they can begin to heal & become whole and eventually be reconciled to their loved ones, family members and children with their lives changed by the grace and mercy of God.
We help in other ways also:
-Securing identification
-Physical & mental health assistance
-STD testing
-Christian counseling assistance
-Clothing, toiletries and feminine products
-Showing them the unconditional love of Jesus Christ

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST ABOUT THE STREETS
Please be praying for the protection and safety of our women.Our girls are being beaten, robbed, and raped regularly on Broadway.They are being targeted in their vulnerable, helpless state and the abuse is increasing.There are 2 known men as we speak that are regularly abusing and violating these girls. Pray that our Metro officers will be able to apprehend these guys and put them away for a long time.The girls are afraid to speak because of the repercussions, so pray for safety and strength and a hedge of protection for these women. They need your prayers!thank you

The ministry of " She Has A Name" (SHAN) is an in-reach and outreach mission, devoted, by God's grace, to the suffering, victimized and marginalized woman who is trapped in the bondage of addiction and has resorted to prostitution to provide for that habit. The ministry has dedicated the last ten and a half years to the building of relationships and trust while armed with the truth of God's love and His life changing forgiveness.
Our mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ practically and to pray and trust that God will rescue and heal women "one life at a time." We rely and depend on Him daily for strength to do what He has called us to do and to be expressions of His radical ability to transform and heal the broken-hearted. We support new life changes for the women and help them to pursue disconnection from the misery of life on the streets. This process requires much love and support, as well as your prayers and tangible gifts. We thank God for this marvelous call and trust Him to "redeem" the lost.
