SHAN UPDATE, Nov. 1, 2013
It was one those Friday nights where The Lord had a re-route planned for us. Her name is Heidi. After hitting Broadway around 5:30, we headed uptown in a direction we don't usually go. Being the first of the month, it is usually quiet. Checks are out and many people are off doing their thing. Please don' t think I am being disrespectful, but the fact of the matter is that many people we see on the street receive their checks and because of their addictions, use that money to purchase drugs. It is always a night of new faces and unusual happenings. Giselle saw the truck and chased us down. Many of you have been praying for her for years. Please keep praying. She introduced us to a 34 year old woman named Heidi from the Poconos. You can imagine that she looked like a deer in headlights when I asked her how she wound up here. The short answer. A drug relapse three weeks ago after DYFS stepped in and took her three week old baby girl Sophia from her. With tears streaming down both our faces, it was awesome to be able to share the truth of God's specific love for us and how He has the power to forgive us, save us, rescue and redeem us. We talked about how His amazing grace can change us and make all things new in our lives and the truth that there is never anything we could ever do that will separate us from His love. Powerful, profound truth, in a world full of lies. As we continued to talk, one girl after another seemed to come out of nowhere. In fact, we were in that same spot for well over an hour. Danielle, Kareema, Dana, Charmaine, Maria, Lynn, Jennifer, Ashley, Jessica and Emily. He knows their names and they are precious in His sight. Isn't that so awesome? His love is so attractive that no matter where He is the light always shines into the darkness,and invites us to just bask in the glow of His warm embrace. Thank you for praying for us as we continue to do battle on the streets of Camden. "Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us to Him be glory". Ephesians 3:20-21.
