Urgent 911 for Prayer
Murder in Camden
It was one of those divine appointments, know what I mean? We had planned to be out on the bus rolling up and down Broadway looking for girls to love on and share God's love. We stopped at Broadway and Mt.Vernon Ave., and we never left. It was almost two hours later in that very spot when we discovered we were out of food, and that we had never moved. It reminds me of the song ,"this is a Holy moment now." I think everyone on the bus, including the ladies volunteering, were undone by just how specific God's love is and how awesome is the gift of forgiveness only He can offer us. At one point all the girls were holding the forgiveness cards in front of them. I then asked Heather if she would read out loud what the card says on the back: Forgiveness is the greatest gift and most profound joy we can ever experience. In Christ's arms of love we find rest for our weary hearts, freedom from shame, and Hope for a glorious future. You can be forgiven! Simply turn your heart toward Jesus, confess your need for him and allow the blood of his sacrifice to cover every part of your life. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness", 1John 1:9. By the time Heather finished reading the card she was sobbing and then everyone sat perfectly still and silent as we prayed aloud and broke down the truth of God's unconditional, never changing, perfect love. Right then, right there, with no regard for what was going on around us. God had powerfully broken into that moment and revealed who He is in a way that honestly effected us all. How great is our God that He would allow us the opportunity to spend time with his precious daughters.
Very early Saturday morning we were informed that not so far from the very spot we had been parked the day before, one of our precious girls was murdered. She was discarded in a vacant lot like a piece of random trash thrown out the window. Please, Please, Pray...that the authorities will catch the person who did this and that Stephanie's life will not end without justice. Please pray for the girls as they are fearful themselves about being targeted. The fact that they are in bondage to drugs puts them at a higher risk for attack. Please pray that God will turn this awful tragedy into a victory somehow and in someway. Pray that the girls will have the strength to leave the streets and never look back. Please pray that they would not believe the lies the enemy whispers to them that they have no value and that they would catch a vision for Hope and change.
We love you guys and thank God for you, Brenda and the SHAN team
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST ABOUT THE STREETS
Please be praying for the protection and safety of our women. Our girls are being, beaten, robbed, and raped regularly on Broadway. They are being targeted in their vulnerable, helpless state and the abuse is increasing. There are 2 known men as we speak that are regularly abusing and violating these girls.Pray that our Metro officers will be able to apprehend these guys and put them away for a long time. The girls are afraid to speak because of the repercussions,so pray for safety and strength and a hedge of protection for these women. They need your prayers!thank you
